Jenny King
Owner and Lead Designer
Jenny knew for many years that her passion for gardening and instinct for visual art converged perfectly in the world of landscape design. But after working in the traditional landscaping trade, she observed this industry– which works so closely with nature– doing more harm than good. In an effort to do things differently, Jenny founded Barefoot Garden Design in 2019 to pursue her passion of bringing eco-friendly landscapes to her community. Her passion for the earth keeps her eager to learn more about our role as stewards of the ecosystems we live in. When not gardening, Jenny loves to experience nature through travel, hiking, caring for animals, and creating art.
Aaron Skinner
General Manager
Aaron has over 25 years of experience in the landscape industry, with a background in organic agriculture. He studied regenerative and eco-friendly landscape practices all over the world and specializes in soil sciences, stone work, fine pruning, and water management. Aaron takes great pride in creating world class gardens which benefit people, wildlife, and the earth as a whole, while implementing a low stress process for our clients. He spends his free time biking, building his own garden, and developing his bonsai collection.
Fernando Martinez
Superintendent
Fernando has been part of the landscape industry for over 10 years. He is a Georgia Certified Plant Professional, and holds a certificate of Landscape Design from Emory University. Fernando is passionate about the environment, and takes great pride in the craftsmanship he brings to all installations. In particular, Fernando loves elements of formal design and enjoys fine pruning. When he is not working, he spends time with his family and enjoys the outdoors through kayaking, hiking and gardening.
Katie Lohff
Executive Assistant
Katie has been a proud member of the Barefoot Garden Team since 2022. She began studying landscape design and permaculture while pursuing a degree in Plant Biology from North Carolina State University. Katie has since apprenticed with several designers, but found a perfect fit with Barefoot Garden Design. It is amazing to be a part of a team with a consciousness for the environment, who relentlessly pursue excellence in all they do. Katie spends her free time teaching ballet, studying herbalism, and working on her own regenerative homestead.
